Under WB Krishak Bandu Scheme, there are two components – Assured Income and Death Benefits for farmers.
The Krishak Bandhu Yojana, 2023 (KBY) is a state government scheme announced in 2018 under the Kheti Bandhu project of Government of West Bengal. The objective of the scheme is to provide logistic support to the farmers. It was launched on 5th June 2018. Under the scheme, there are 2 components – Assured Income and Death Benefit.
Under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme, the state government will provide Rs. 10,000 per acre (earlier Rs. 5,000) per annum to farmers as well as sharecropping farmers in 2 equal installments. The 1st installment is to be paid in the month of June for Kharif Crops and the 2nd installment is to be given in November.
All farmers who own lands in Rajasthan are invited to register online under the WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2021 2020. The assured income component was effective from December 2018 while death benefit component was effective from 1 January 2019. Krishak Bandhu (Natun) in West Bengal Budget 2023
Krishak Bandhu (Natun) was launched in West Bengal Budget 2023. This scheme comprises of financial assistance to farmers amounting to Rs 10,000 per acre or more for the cultivation season. Farmers having less than one acre of land are eligible for assistance, on pro rata basis, subject to a minimum of Rs 4,000 per annum per farmer. Assistance has been disbursed to 77.95 lakh number of beneficiaries under this scheme in 2021-22 out of which Rs 1,818.99 crore in Kharif and Rs 2,216.10 crore in Rabi season have been disbursed as assistance to farmers
The government announced its new ‘Krishak Bandhu’ (Green Power) scheme. This was a major step in reducing carbon emissions in the state and was seen by many as a big step towards zero-carbon economy. The government also stated that it would provide Rs 10,000 per acre for one year to farmers who did not grow any commercial crops and instead practices organic farming. The government will also provide assistance on pro rata basis to farmers with less than one acre of cultivable land, subject to a minimum of Rs 4,000 per annum per farmer
What is WB Krishak Bandhu Natun Scheme 2023?
WB Krishak Bandhu Natun Scheme is a scheme introduced by the state government of West Bengal to improve the lives of farmers and agricultural labourers in West Bengal. Under this scheme, when you cultivate land, your production will be directly transferred to bank account of all eligible farmers/share-croppers within 24 hours. The financial support under WB Krishak Bandhu Natun Scheme will be guaranteed by our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who promised she would double the annual financial support for all farmers if they voted her out at 2019 elections.
West Bengal government is relaunching krishak bandhu scheme by doubling the financial support for all farmers & share-croppers. Farmers with less than 1 acre of cultivable land will now receive a minimum of Rs. 4,000 per annum on a pro-rata basis. This means that farmers having more than 1 acre of cultivable land will receive doubled amount in awards under WB Krishak Bandhu Natun Scheme (WBKBNN).
All farmers and share-croppers in WB are eligible for the scheme, which will be implemented from 2021. Farmers can take the benefit of the scheme from 2021-2022 crops to 2021-2023 crops. The money will be transferred directly into their bank account.
About Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2.0 2023
Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2.0, the fourth phase of the scheme, was launched on 16 June 2021. The state government has provided death benefits to more than 10,000 farmers and their families who died before 60 years of age. The beneficiaries under this course include 28,000 farmers and their families who would receive Rs. 2 lakh if they die before 60 years of age as well as Rs. 28,000 each for any other farming family member with a monthly income of less than Rs. 4,000.
The Krishak Bandhu Scheme, 2.0 offers hefty benefits to farmers. For example, if you are a farmer and want to take up pisciculture in West Bengal, you will now be eligible for Rs. 4 crore as loan assistance through bank credit. Additionally, there is no need to sell off your farmland and plough back the proceeds into another industry; instead, farmers can apply online and get Rs 17 lakh per acre of agricultural land.

West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card 2023
The Krishak Bandhu digital smart card is a unique identity card that will be placed at the centre of a State-wide pan-agriculture e-card solution. The Krishak Bandhu digital smart card will enable farmers and farm household people throughout West Bengal to get their due benefits under the State Krishak Bandhu Scheme in a single digital format.
- This scheme will be implemented for farmers who owns one or more acres of land. They will get assistance on a pro-rata basis with a minimum of 2000 Rs on Rabi & Kharif seasons respectively.
- Under the KBS Scheme, farmers who are deceased receive one lump sum payment of 2 lakhs. The payment is made if their relatives have submitted a personalised authenticated DOA (Death Offline Application) to their employer stating about their location. For this purpose, the Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card is used which is stored in Krishak Bandhu cloud and analysed by DOA officers.
Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card will be given to farmers to authenticate beneficiaries for all further govt. assistance in future. State & District Co-Operative Bank will verify a farmer’s data and share it with the Bank for direct benefit disbursement. The data will be verified by DOA and then shared with the beneficiaries through their Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Cards.
WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2023 – Assured Income & Death Benefit
Under this scheme, 100% subsidy on the purchase and usage of smart cards is available. The West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Digital smart card has been designed to give information of the public regarding their daily work and activities.
1. Assured Income –
The Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card has been introduced by the government of West Bengal as a single digitized card for all farmers of West Bengal. This card has direct benefit of 2 additional components which includes insurance and agriculture loan assistance.
- Farmers with 1 or more acre landholding are entitled to get Rs. 10,000 per annum for both Rabi & Kharif Seasons. 1st installment will be provided in the month of June and 2nd installment will be provided in the month of November.
- Also farmers would be given minimum assistance of Rs. 4000 per annum on pro-rata basis.
2. Death Benefit –
Under this death benefit scheme, the family of the farmer would be facilitated with a lumpsum amount of Rs. 2 lakh including suicide.
In order to help the farmers and increase their income, death benefit scheme will be introduced in West Bengal. Under this scheme, all the farmers who are between 18 and 60 years of age can claim a lump sum amount of 2 lakh rupees.
The Krishak Bandhu digital smart card helps in recording of complete and authentic data of the farmers. The data produced on this smart card goes directly to DOA officials to ensure authenticity of the same later. The data is stored in Krishak Bandhu cloud, after which it can be analyzed and verified with L&LR database synchronization by DOA officers.
The West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card System is a state government initiative to help farmers understand the importance of updating their Aadhaar details. This system verified authenticated data will be shared with State & District Co-Operative Banks by DOA for direct benefit disbursement.
